Apres Ski and Nightlife in Zakopane
If you are looking for a holiday where you can play all day and party all night, or just party all the time then Zakopane can definitely keep you entertained. There are a number of nightclubs in the centre of town and numerous bars and pubs; Zakopane can cater to almost everyone’s tastes. The bars and pubs vary greatly in style with everything from small local bars that do not have too much to offer in the way of fancy décor but will provide the drinks to highly popular cocktail bars and clubs. There are a few bars in Zakopane that are solely just bars in that they only serve drinks, however being a tourist town there are a lot of restaurants in the town centre with bars inside. People will not mind if you go into a restaurant just to sit and drink, in fact there are a couple of restaurants that are the only places in town where you can get your hands on a litre flagon of beer.
As in most holiday destinations nightlife varies according to the day of the week and time of year. You cannot expect to go out on a Monday night out of season and find a club full of people. However, you will find the clubs are busy almost every weekend in Zakopane as people from Krakow and further North in Poland regularly stay in Zakopane for the weekend. During holiday periods Zakopane is not only a popular tourist destination with people from abroad but also with people from all around Poland leading to clubs being packed out everyday of the week. Bars and Pubs are open from early in the day until around midnight, with the clubs staying open until around 4 o’clock depending on how busy they are.
The following guide to the bars and nightclubs should help you choose a few places to go and give a rough guide as to what you can expect to find in Zakopane. There are so many places to squeeze onto a small map so the town centre has been divided into 4 coloured areas on the map, the bars and clubs on the list below have the names written in the same colour as the area of town they can be found in. The centre of town is effortless to find your way around so finding a place to party is simple.
Bars, Pubs and Cafe’s
APPENDIX –This is a local bar situated in a loft, which overlooks the town’s main street – Krupowki. It has become a popular venue with local fashion designers to make shows and has a warm, welcoming feel to it. Appendix is alway a favourite of the Sunshine World Team. During the peak season there is quite often a band playing over the weekend.
Appendix is located a the bottom end of the high street above Subway. The pub serves light snacks like nachos, salads and toasties.
Strh cafe – A brand new modern cafe at the lower end of the high street, above the Samanta bakery. Strh serves healthy juices and smoothies as well as summer cocktails.
This is a great place to relax and unwind both during the day with a hot coffee or in the evening over a beer or hot wine. There also have a selection one good beers as well as a small food menu.
Tunel Bar – Tunnel is located where the old Mexican restaurant used to be. Down a little alley off of the high street. Tunnel serves both food and drinks and is a good stop of point as you make your way up the high street. You will also find a few varieties of beer here, that you can’t find in other Zakopane bars. Burgers, Pizzas, salads and mix of Polish meals. A great place for a quiet drink.
Tygodnik Cafe/Bar – Tygodnik is a roof top cafe bar just off of the high street. ( as you walk to the bus station) Tygodnik is linked to Appendix and serves a similar menu. On a clear day, this is where you will see the best views of the mountains from Zakopane. You have a panoramic view of the whole town.
Inside you have have private seating areas to sit together as a group. Whether you go for a coffee, a beer or a snack, we highly recommend that you visit Tygodnik during your stay.
Piano Bar –
More popular with the local people, Piano is a quaint little bar with swings at the bar instead of bar stools. It is only small but has a true local atmosphere. Located closer to the top of the high street down a back alley. For a cheap and relaxed pint, this is another great place to visit.

La Playa Beach Bar –
A surfer style beach bar, chilled and relaxed venue. Popular with the younger locals.
A great options if you are looking for something a little bit different. La Playa is a 10-15 minute walk form the high street – Just simply keep walking up after the high street ends.
Le Scandale –New since 2015 Le Scandale is based in the basement of the brand new luxury hotel, Aries. Offering high end service and opulent decor, top quality cocktails and a very extensive bar sure to satisfy even the most sophisticated of connoisseurs, this awesome club is the place to be in Zakopane. A world class sound system is set alive by carefully selected Djs from around the world. And all of this comes at honestly great value compared with what you’d likely expect at a luxury hotel.
Va Va Voom
– One of the smarter clubs in Zakopane. Va Va Voom above Omakase Sushi, has a cocktails bar with a dance. There are usually live DJ’s playing and on a good night the atmosphere can be electric. Over the last 10 years we’ve had many great memories and no doubt many forgotten memories also at this great club.
Morskie Oko –
Named after the lake, this is quite a busy and large nightclub playing a mix of commercial and techno music. The club has 3 dance floors each with a different music selection. Whilst the other clubs in Zakopane could be classed as cocktail bars, Morskie Oko is a full on Club.
